What Are Hours?
Hours: Days and times when a business operates aka working hours.
Hours of operation are the times when a company functions normally and offers products/services to customers from the days of Monday to Sunday, and from the times of 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
The traditional hours for American businesses are from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening, from Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are holidays, which makes for a 40-hour workweek.
For a physical store, hours are when a business is open to customers as opposed to when the employees work. For example, people perform work at banks after it is closed to the public.
They usually appear at the bank before the doors open. The same applies to amusement parks, zoos, etc.
In a GMB listing, the hours appear below the address and above the phone number of the business
These are the customer-facing hours. They are displayed in civilian time (12-hour am-pm clock) as opposed to military time (24-hour clock).
A business listing can have different hours for each day. There are also Special Hours which show if/when the business will operate on holidays and special days like Easter, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, New Year’s Day, etc.
Timings with breaks can also be shown, such as from 7 AM to noon, then 2 PM to 4 PM.
Certain businesses including theaters, hotels, universities, movie theaters, and airports should not provide their hours.
This is because schedules, showtimes, and activities vary. However, hotels can add check-in and check-out times for their listings.
Departments within a hospital, university, supermarket, or other business can have their own listing and hours corresponding to that department within the listing.
DigitalBull GO Tip: Look up the times of your competition and see if you can start an hour earlier or close a little later. If your business means taking calls at any time of the day, opt for the 24-hour window. Do ensure that the hours on the website match exactly with the hours on your GMB.
