What Is Business.Site?

Business.Site: Google website with information and photos linked to your Google My Business listing.

The Business.Site is a free website builder from Google that allows businesses to build a simple one-page website from within their Google My Business Dashboard.

Business.Site is not to be confused with Google Sites (sites.google.com), which allows people to create a simple webpage just like any other site builder tools.

Every GMB listing has a Business.Site, but it is up to the owner of the listing to add information, save, and then publish the site so it is visible to the public. We do recommend that you optimize and publish it soon after you get your GMB verification completed since upon publishing, the site gets indexed by Google and appears in search results.

Business.Site is like a miniature website for a local business having a GMB and complements the primary website that the business has been using or plans to use (built on WordPress, Duda, WIX, ASP.NET, HTML, etc.).

Apart from the information that the business is allowed to add, Google enhances the Business.Site by automatically pulling details from the GMB like posts, services, and description, and adds them to it.

Business.Site has many components, which include:

  • Header Photo
  • Headline
  • Description
  • Posts
  • Services
  • Reviews (Testimonials)
  • Summary Header
  • Summary Body
  • Photos & Videos (Gallery)
  • Map Location
  • Contact Details
  • Business Hours

The Business.Site is like a website of the whole GMB, containing some elements we have already covered (NAP, Hours, Service Area) and others which we are yet to cover (Photos, Reviews, Posts).

The Business.Site is a Google property and it’s free, so it’s in your best interests to publish it as a secondary/supplementary site to your main website. There are additional customization options regarding the theme and the CTA, so experiment and find out what works best.

Certain components of the Business.Site have character limits, which are as follows:

  • Headline – 80 or fewer characters
  • Description -140 or fewer characters
  • Summary header – 40 or fewer characters.

Content in the Business.Site can be formatted. Text can be bold, italicized, and underlined. There can also be hyperlinks as well as lists (both numbered and bulleted).

Also, the Business.Site description is not the same as the GMB description.

Upon being published, Google’s Business.Site URL appears as “https://(companyname).business.site” in the address bar. The company name would be the full business name on the listing (GMB title), with dashes in place of the spaces.

For example, the Business.Site for Omega Locksmith is https://omega-locksmith.business.site

You can also buy a custom domain name from Google for an additional fee and set this as your Business.Site domain.

DigitalBull GO Tip: Optimize the Business.Site completely and embed it on the page of your GMB URL to enhance the Google property power of that page.
