What Is On-Page?
On-Page: A certain webpage or the elements of that particular page.
On-page refers to everything visible on a particular page of a website which can be both the content and HTML parts of the page.
On-page is one of the four broad types of SEO, the other three being technical, content, and off-page, though they have some overlap.
On-page SEO is a powerful rules-based technique that can yield good results when executed with perfection. The mobile view and UX of a page are factors that emphasize the on-page elements. Relevant, original, likable pages show up higher on the search results.
With on-page SEO, each individual page is treated as a separate entity and all the content in the various segments of the page or elements of that page are fixed or improved upon. The content includes headings, paragraphs (body text), and images.
Headings are the main heading (H1) for the entire body of content and subheadings (H2, H3, H4, etc.) for paragraphs and subparagraphs
Alt-attributes are used for the images and videos to describe them better and are a critical element of Image SEO. This can help in appearing on Google image results..
Meta tags are the page title and description of the pages that appear in the search results. The description is also called the meta description. This is not to be confused with the GMB description. Page titles and descriptions are measured in characters or pixels and each letter, symbol, and space is 1 character. I pixel = 0.125 character.
The page’s URL that appears in the address bar can be considered a minor on-page element. Other elements that impact the success of on-page include schema, links and call-to-action buttons.
The HTML of on-page covers the coding, backend tags (,, etc.), structured data markup for rich results in the search snippet (also known as ‘schema’), and hyperlinks both to another page on the same site or another site.
A keyword is a word or phrase that describes the focus of the page, such as ‘plumber Norfolk VA’ or ‘New York taxi service’. The ability to smartly use Keywords in meta tags, headings and alt-attributes is one of the most critical elements of on-page.
